A new face will soon be joining the Spartanburg District Five Board of Trustees. Following an application process and candidate forum, the Board of Trustees selected Alex Perez to fill a vacant seat on the board. The seat was vacated following the death of beloved Board member Ott Sizemore in November.
Perez, a local pharmaceutical sales manager and District Five parent, says he feels a personal responsibility to preserve the prestige of District Five, and wants to continue to improve the quality and performance of the school system. He says he also wants to reflect diversity on the school board, and advocate for each student receiving an equal education and opportunities.
Perez will fill the board seat until November of 2025, when it will be up for reelection. His official swearing-in date has not yet been set.
