At the beginning of the school year, the Wellford Academy family welcomed Mrs. Coan as its new assistant principal. Mrs. Coan is not a new face around our school. Mrs. Coan began her teaching career many years ago here at Wellford. She has held several roles in our school including teaching multiple grade levels and serving as our Literacy Coach. She is looking forward to serving the families and staff of Wellford in a different capacity. Mrs. Coan states, “ I am fully committed to working under the leadership of Mr. Bringer and hand-in-hand with colleagues as a collaborative leader to refine the best instructional practices and to create a safe, nurturing environment that will continually improve achievement for our students.”
Mrs. Coan is a Spartanburg District Five native and Byrnes Rebel. She and her husband have two sons and one princess, a labradoodle named Brandy. On sunny days you may find at least one member of the Coan family on a golf course. If it’s raining, they like to watch movies or read.
One program Mrs. Coan is launching this year is the Sunshine Award. This award is an avenue for each staff member to recognize and honor students who make a positive impact on our school.
If you see Mrs. Coan around the school, please give her a warm Wellford welcome!
