Child Find

Child Find under the IDEA requires all public school districts, including District Five, to ensure that all children with disabilities residing within the district who need special education and related services are identified, located, and evaluated.  This includes all children ages 3-21 who attend public or private schools, those who are homeschooled, and those who are homeless or wards of the state.

For children ages 3-5 suspected of having a disability, a developmental screening is conducted to determine if there is a need for further evaluation.  We work collaboratively as a team with parents to make determinations.  If your child has a disability and may qualify for special education services under the IDEA, please send an email to pkchildfind@spart5.net

Parents of school-aged children (5-21) or pre-school children not enrolled in a public school program (private/homeschool) who suspect a disability should send an email to:  pkchildfind@spart5.net or call (864) 336-5481.

Parents of school-aged children currently enrolled in Spartanburg District Five schools should contact your child's building principal.
