Spartanburg District Five Schools is proud to congratulate Janelle Murr, a 2nd grade teacher at Duncan Elementary School of the Arts, for receiving the honor of "Elementary Distinguished Teacher of Literacy" for Spartanburg County! Superintendent Dr. Randall Gary, along with district and school leaders, surprised Murr in her classroom with the wonderful news this week.
The Distinguished Literacy Teacher is an award presented each year by the Spartanburg County chapter of the Palmetto State Literacy Association. Each school district in the county can nominate one elementary and one secondary teacher for the recognition every year. Murr was nominated at the school level, and then chosen to represent District Five after an application and interview process.
The award is a testament to Murr's outstanding contributions in the classroom, as she fosters a positive and engaging learning environment, and helps students develop strong skills, along with a love for reading.
Congratulations Ms. Murr on this well-deserved honor!
