Teaching is a tough job, even for the most seasoned professional. Teaching during your very first year in the classroom is even more difficult! That's why Spartanburg District Five is proud to celebrate four outstanding first year, or "induction", teachers who are being honored as finalists for the title of "District Five Induction Teacher of the Year".
Congratulations to the following teachers:
Paige Campbell, 1st grade teacher at Lyman Elementary School
Savannah Kahley, English teacher at Byrnes High School
Mackenzie Oates, Kindergarten teacher at Reidville Elementary School
Carrie Turner, 4th grade teacher at Duncan Elementary School of the Arts
Nominees for "Induction Teacher of the Year" are selected based on promising practices in the classroom during their first year of teaching. Outstanding candidates show stellar instruction skills, along with classroom management and a unique ability to engage with students. Finalists were selected following an application round, that included recommendations from each teacher's Principal and mentor teacher. The top four finalists are then interviewed by an outside panel of judges. District Five's Induction Teacher of the Year will be announced in the coming days, and then be eligible for the SC Induction Teacher of the Year award, presented annually by the SC Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development.
Congratulations to these outstanding teachers on this tremendous honor!
