Hundreds of Byrnes High School seniors took the next step into their future Thursday night, as they celebrated graduation! The Class of 2024 proudly marched onto Nixon Field, as a crowd of thousands of parents, family members and friends looked on.
The special ceremony was the culmination of years of hard work and determination by this Senior Class, many of the graduates earning significant awards and accomplishments. Ava Hisker was honored as the class Valedictorian, and London Reid as the Salutatorian. The Byrnes Class of 2024 includes 61 honor graduates, 10 Scholars Academy graduates, and 70 students who earned the distinction of "Scholar Athlete" in South Carolina. Additionally, this class included the school and district's inaugural cohort of 13 "AVID Scholar" graduates. Seniors in their class plan to enter college, the military and the workforce, and have earned millions in scholarship money.
In all, 650 graduates walked across the stage and received their diploma from District Five Superintendent Dr. Randall Gary.
The ceremony marked a major milestone for the school, as the Class of 2024 will be the last to graduate on the current Nixon Field. The District Five Board of Trustees recently approved the construction of a brand new stadium and athletic complex at Byrnes.
Congratulations to the Byrnes High School Class of 2024!
